The Yankees finalized a one-year deal , $5.5 million with Johnson on friday. The first basemen had many offers some were more lucrative but he still signed with the NYY.He will most probably bat NO. 2 taking over Johnny  Damon, even though Damon offers more speed Nick has a better on base percentage of .426 as oppose to Damon .365. The Yankees strength in their line up is there patience, after signing Curtis Granderson they lost a patient batter in their line up they bring up Nick to balance out their offense. He fits like a glove, he can play 1st base when Mark needs some rest but he will most likely  bat DH  consistently through out the season
